Wine Tasting: 2009 Château La Cardonne

I've been slacking a bit and not taking or posting my notes.  It's been quite busy, but I need not let that stop me.

Tonight Vive la France!

2009 Château La Cardonne

Tasting Notes:
Deep currant in color, with scents of pomegranate, cherry and a wet slate. Flavors of black cherry, sage, Brazil nuts, with a late tobacco finish.

Final Thoughts:
Bit acidic early, so even at seven years old, it still needed a few minutes to breath.  Better paired than on it's own.

Wine Tasting: 2009 Fossacolle Brunello di Montalcino

Tonight I'm going with a Brunello.   I had two of these, but opened the first one with company and didn't get a chance to take tasting notes.  I saved this one specifically so I could take notes.

2009 Fossacolle Brunello di Montalcino

Tasting Notes:
Fully bodied and dark ruby in color (definitely not brown) with scents of licorices, and bramble fruit. On the palette black cherry with a raw tobacco and volcanic rock. A spirited finish and nice acidic balance.

Final Thoughts:
Good quality and tasty Brunello.  I feel it lacks some of the wow factor I expected from it, but generally a very good wine.

Tasting: 2009 Harmonique Pinot Noir, Oppenlander Vineyard

The wine is a light ruby in color. The legs are medium plus. Smells of strawberry, cranberry, and rose. The taste of cranberries comes out immediately with a mineral, pine, and straw overtones. The body is medium, with a very juicy texture. The finish is short to short plus and a small amount of acidity.
